Qorikancha (alternative spelling)
Qorikancha, also known as the Temple of the Sun, was a significant Incan religious site in Cusco, Peru. It was dedicated to Inti, the sun god, and served as a center for worship, ritual ceremonies, and astronomy. The impressive structure featured gold-plated walls and intricate stonework, showcasing Inca engineering skills. After the Spanish conquest, many of its valuable materials were looted, and it was partially rebuilt as a Catholic church. Today, Qorikancha remains an important archaeological site, blending Inca and colonial history, and offering insight into the spiritual and architectural achievements of the Inca civilization.
