Qataban
Qataban was an ancient kingdom located in what is now Yemen, flourishing around the 1st millennium BCE. It was part of the Arabian Peninsula’s southern cultural and trade networks. Known for its impressive architecture, agriculture, and trade routes, Qataban played a significant role in regional commerce, especially in commodities like incense, frankincense, and spices. Its society was organized with a ruling elite and rich religious traditions. The kingdom eventually merged with neighboring polities, forming part of the broader South Arabian civilization, and left behind archaeological remains that offer insight into early Arabian history and culture.
