Q-switch

A Q-switch is a device used in certain lasers to control the release of laser energy. It temporarily stores energy in the laser medium and then releases it suddenly in a powerful, short pulse. This rapid energy burst results in high-intensity laser beams, ideal for precise cutting, medical procedures, or scientific applications. The “Q” refers to the quality factor, which measures the laser’s ability to store energy, and the Q-switch increases this temporarily. This technique allows for very bright, focused laser pulses that achieve tasks requiring high energy in a brief moment.
