Q Source (Quelle)
The Q Source, also known as Quelle, is a hypothetical written collection of Jesus’ sayings and teachings believed by scholars to have been used as a source by the authors of the Gospels of Matthew and Luke. It is not a physical document discovered but a scholarly reconstruction based on the similarities between these two Gospels. The concept helps explain how certain stories and sayings appear in both texts, suggesting they drew from a common, earlier collection of Jesus’ teachings. Essentially, Q represents an early, shared source that contributed to the development of the Christian writings.
