Pyramids of Nubia
The Pyramids of Nubia are ancient structures located in what is now Sudan, built by the Kingdom of Kush between 2500 BCE and 300 CE. These pyramids served as tombs for royalty and high officials, similar to those in Egypt. Known for their distinctive steep sides and smaller size, the Nubian pyramids total over 200, making them significant archaeological sites. Unlike the Egyptian pyramids, many Nubian pyramids were constructed with local materials like sandstone and are often less well-preserved. They reflect a rich cultural heritage and the longstanding connection between Nubia and ancient Egypt.
