Pyeloplasty
Pyeloplasty is a surgical procedure to correct a blockage or narrowing where the kidney connects to the tube (ureter) that drains urine to the bladder. This narrowing, called a ureteropelvic junction obstruction, can cause urine buildup, leading to pain, infections, or kidney damage. During the surgery, the doctor removes the narrowed section and then reconnects the healthy parts of the ureter and kidney, restoring normal urine flow. The procedure can be performed using traditional open surgery or minimally invasive techniques like laparoscopy or robotic-assisted surgery, often resulting in good long-term outcomes and symptom relief.
