Puthandu
Puthandu, also known as Tamil New Year or Chithirai Vishu, is a cultural festival celebrated by Tamil people, usually on April 14th or 15th. It marks the beginning of the Tamil solar calendar year and symbolizes renewal, prosperity, and hope. Families clean and decorate their homes, prepare special foods, and perform rituals to welcome the new year with positive energy. Traditionally, an auspicious item called "kaai" (a mixture of grains and fruits) is displayed, and prayers are offered for good fortune. Puthandu fosters community spirit and cultural identity, blending tradition with the joy of new beginnings.
