PUPP (Pressure Ulcer Prevention Program)
The Pressure Ulcer Prevention Program (PUPP) is a set of strategies designed to prevent bedsores, also known as pressure ulcers, which can develop from prolonged pressure on the skin. It includes regular repositioning of patients, maintaining skin hygiene, ensuring good nutrition and hydration, using specialized mattresses or cushions, and encouraging movement whenever possible. The goal is to reduce continuous pressure on vulnerable skin areas, especially in individuals who are immobile or have limited mobility, thereby protecting their skin and underlying tissue from damage and promoting overall health.
