Punjab Settlement

The Punjab Settlement was a treaty signed in 1947 to resolve the division of Punjab between India and Pakistan after independence, following Partition. It aimed to ensure fair transfer of land, properties, and resources, and to protect minorities and communities affected by the migration. The agreement established guidelines for land and resource sharing, addressing issues related to boundaries, refugees, and governance to promote stability and peaceful coexistence in the newly divided regions. Essentially, it was a framework to manage the complex process of partition and its aftermath in Punjab.
