Punic Religion

Punic religion was practiced by the ancient Carthaginians, a civilization centered in North Africa. It was a polytheistic faith, featuring gods like Baal and Tanit, who represented natural forces and city protection. Rituals included sacrifices, offerings, and ceremonies to secure divine favor, especially for rain, fertility, and victory in war. The religion was closely tied to their commerce, military endeavors, and daily life, emphasizing loyalty and piety. As a prominent Mediterranean power, Carthaginian religion influenced and interacted with other cultures, eventually declining after the Roman conquest when Roman religious practices replaced many Punic traditions.
