Pump Laser

A pump laser is a component used to energize or "excite" a gain medium within a laser system, enabling it to produce a coherent light beam. It provides the necessary energy—often from an electrical source, another laser, or light source—to push electrons in the gain medium into higher energy states. When these electrons return to lower energy levels, they release photons that stimulate additional emissions, leading to a powerful, focused laser beam. The pump laser is essential for initiating and maintaining laser operation, effectively acting as the energy source that sustains the generation of laser light.
