pulmonary valve

The pulmonary valve is a small, one-way flap located between the right ventricle (the heart's lower right chamber) and the pulmonary artery (which carries blood to the lungs). Its main function is to prevent blood from flowing backward into the right ventricle after it has been pumped out. When the right ventricle contracts, the pulmonary valve opens to allow blood to flow into the lungs for oxygen. When the ventricle relaxes, the valve closes to stop the backflow, ensuring efficient circulation of blood through the heart and lungs.
