public REITs

Public REITs (Real Estate Investment Trusts) are companies that own, operate, or finance income-producing real estate, and are traded on stock exchanges like regular stocks. Investors buy shares of a REIT to gain exposure to real estate markets without needing to buy property directly. Public REITs generate income mainly from rental properties or real estate loans, and they are required to distribute most of their taxable income to shareholders.
