Public Interest Immunity
Public Interest Immunity (PII) is a legal principle that allows the government or public authorities to withhold certain information from evidence in court if revealing it would harm national security, public safety, or other important interests. It balances the need for justice with the need to protect sensitive information, meaning the evidence may be excluded to prevent damage to the public interest. PII does not mean the information is false or invalid; rather, its disclosure is deliberately withheld to serve a higher public good.
