A Public Health Emergency of International Concern (PHEIC) is an official declaration by the World Health Organization (WHO) recognizing an extraordinary health event that poses a risk to multiple countries and requires a coordinated international response. This designation is used for serious outbreaks or emergencies, such as pandemics or outbreaks of new or dangerous diseases, to prompt swift action, resource mobilization, and international collaboration aimed at containing and managing the threat to global health.
