Ptolemy VI
Ptolemy VI Philometor was a Hellenistic ruler of Egypt from 181 to 145 BC. He belonged to the Ptolemaic dynasty, a Greek family that ruled Egypt after Alexander the Great. His reign was marked by internal family conflicts, including rivalries with his brother and son, as well as external threats from neighboring states. Ptolemy VI frequently aligned with Rome to strengthen his position. His rule saw efforts to balance Greek and Egyptian traditions, and he is known for maintaining Egypt’s independence amid complex regional and political challenges during the Hellenistic period.
