Ptolemy (Astronomer/Geographer)
Ptolemy was a Greek astronomer and geographer who lived in the 2nd century AD. His most influential work, the "Almagest," presented a geocentric model of the universe, where Earth was at the center, and planets and stars moved in circular orbits around it. He also created a comprehensive map of the known world, refining cartographic methods that valued latitude and longitude. Ptolemy's ideas dominated Western astronomy for over a millennium until the Copernican revolution. His work laid important foundations in both astronomy and geography, influencing future scientists and explorers.
