Psychiatric Emergency Response Teams

Psychiatric Emergency Response Teams (PERT) are specialized groups that respond to mental health crises in the community. Made up of mental health professionals, often including social workers and psychiatrists, these teams work alongside law enforcement to safely assess and support individuals experiencing severe emotional distress or psychiatric emergencies. Their goal is to provide immediate care, stabilize the situation, and connect individuals with appropriate mental health services, thereby reducing the need for hospitalization and improving overall outcomes for those in crisis.
