PSTN
The Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) is the traditional system for transmitting telephone calls worldwide. It uses a network of physical circuits, such as copper wires and fiber optic cables, to connect telephones and enable voice communication. When you make a call, your voice is converted into electrical signals that travel through this network to reach the recipient's phone. PSTN has been the backbone of telephone communication for decades, providing reliable, landline-based service. Although now increasingly supplemented or replaced by digital and internet-based systems, PSTN remains a foundational technology for voice connectivity.
