PSR J0737-3039

PSR J0737-3039 is a unique system containing two neutron stars, both of which emit regular radio pulses, making it a rare "double pulsar." Located about 2,000 light-years away, it provides scientists a valuable natural laboratory to study extreme gravity, relativity, and stellar evolution. The two neutron stars orbit each other very closely, completing an orbit roughly every 2.4 hours. Their interaction allows precise tests of Einstein’s theories, especially Einstein’s general relativity, as their gravitational effects influence each other's signals. This system helps scientists better understand fundamental physics and the life cycles of massive stars.
