Pseudomorphs
Pseudomorphs are mineral formations where one mineral replaces another while retaining the original shape. This process occurs during mineral change or fossilization, often when a mineral-rich fluid infiltrates a crystal or fossil, gradually replacing its material without altering its external form. As a result, the mineral takes on the appearance of the original object but is composed of different substances. Pseudomorphs provide insights into geological history and mineral relationships, revealing past environmental conditions and mineral transformations.
