Pseudointellectualism refers to the act of presenting oneself as knowledgeable or sophisticated without having a genuine understanding of a subject. In the context of general knowledge, it involves using jargon, complex ideas, or obscure references to seem intelligent, often without a solid grasp of the basics. Pseudointellectuals may engage in pretentious conversations or promote ideas superficially, leaving real critical thinking and depth behind. This can create an illusion of expertise but ultimately lacks the substance and insight that true intellectual engagement entails.
