Province of Ireland
Ireland is divided into four main regions called provinces: Leinster, Munster, Connacht, and Ulster. These provinces are historical and cultural areas established centuries ago, not administrative units with governmental powers today. They each encompass several counties, which are the main administrative divisions. The provinces help organize regional identities, history, and cultural distinctions, but governance and local administration are managed at the county or national level. Essentially, provinces serve as traditional regions that reflect Ireland’s rich history and cultural diversity, rather than functioning as political entities.
