Province of Canada
The Province of Canada was a British colony established in 1841, combining what are now Ontario and Quebec into one political entity. It aimed to unify the regions' governance and improve administration. The colony had its own government but remained under British sovereignty. In 1867, it became part of the newly formed country of Canada, splitting into two provinces—Ontario and Quebec—that retained certain local powers. The Province of Canada played a key role in shaping Canada's early political development and regional identity.
