Proposition 64 Campaign
Proposition 64 was a ballot measure approved by California voters in 2016 that legalized recreational cannabis for adults 21 and older. It allowed individuals to possess, use, and grow limited amounts of marijuana legally. The proposition also established regulations for commercial cultivation, manufacturing, testing, and sales of cannabis products, creating a regulated legal market and generating tax revenue for public programs. By shifting cannabis from an illegal substance to a regulated legal industry, Prop 64 aimed to reduce crime, improve public health safety, and address social justice concerns related to previous drug laws.
