Project Tektite
Project Tektite was a U.S. underwater research program in the early 1960s designed to study human adaptation to living and working underwater for extended periods. Participants, known as aquanauts, stayed inside pressurized underwater habitats for weeks to mimic conditions of space missions. The project aimed to gather data on underwater engineering, human health, and psychology, helping to develop techniques for future space exploration. It also advanced underwater technology and training methods, providing valuable insights into the challenges of long-term habitat life in extreme environments.
