Project Prometheus
Project Prometheus was a NASA initiative started around 2003 aimed at developing advanced robotic spacecraft to explore the outer planets, such as Jupiter and Saturn. Its goal was to improve our understanding of these distant worlds' atmospheres, magnetic fields, and potential for supporting life. The project focused on creating more efficient, cost-effective instruments and missions, paving the way for future exploration. Although it was eventually phased out and absorbed into other programs, it contributed to technological innovations and strategic planning for planetary science missions.
