Project Pigeon

Project Pigeon was a World War II initiative by scientist Ronald Reagan and others to develop a guidance system for bombs using trained pigeons. The pigeons were placed in a device that showed the target image, and they were trained to peck at it, guiding the bomb toward enemy positions. This system aimed to improve accuracy and reliability in missile targeting. Although it showed promise and was tested, it was ultimately not adopted, replaced by electronic guidance technology. The project is an early example of using animal behavior in military technology development.
