Project Echelon
Project Echelon was a highly classified international surveillance program operated by the United States, the UK, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand, collectively known as the "Five Eyes." Its primary purpose was to intercept, analyze, and share global electronic communications, including phone calls, emails, and other data, to gather intelligence on potential threats and ensure national security. Using advanced listening stations and satellite technology, Echelon monitored signals worldwide, often without public knowledge. While it helped detect terrorist activities, the program also raised concerns about privacy and government overreach due to its extensive and covert surveillance capabilities.
