Project-Based Section 8
Project-Based Section 8 is a housing assistance program where government support helps cover the rent for eligible tenants in specific, designated apartment buildings or complexes. Unlike voucher programs that allow tenants to choose any property, this assistance is tied to particular developments. Landlords and property managers agree to certain standards in exchange for the subsidy, ensuring affordable, quality housing for low-income families. The subsidy remains with the building, so tenants retain their rent support if they move within the project, but if they leave the unit, the assistance doesn’t follow them elsewhere.
