Prohibition (USA)

Prohibition in the USA was a period from 1920 to 1933 when the production, sale, and transportation of alcoholic beverages were legally banned nationwide by the 18th Amendment. Intended to reduce crime, improve health, and promote moral values, it led to the rise of illegal activities like bootlegging and bootleggers. Despite efforts, Prohibition often caused more problems than it solved, including increased organized crime. The ban was eventually repealed by the 21st Amendment in 1933, returning alcohol regulation to individual states.
