Proclus (the philosopher)
Proclus was a Greek philosopher of late antiquity, influential in the Neoplatonist tradition. He believed that all existence emanates from a single, divine source called the One, and that everything else—intellect, soul, and physical matter—derives from this unity through a series of divine levels. Proclus emphasized the importance of philosophical contemplation and mystical insight to understand the divine truths underlying the universe. His work aimed to unify Plato's ideas with religious thought, inspiring later Christian and Islamic philosophy. Essentially, Proclus sought to explain how the infinite divine gives rise to the finite world we experience.
