PRK

PRK, or Photorefractive Keratectomy, is a laser eye surgery that corrects vision problems like nearsightedness, farsightedness, or astigmatism. The procedure involves removing the thin outer layer of the cornea (the transparent front part of the eye) and then reshaping the underlying corneal tissue with a laser to improve how light enters the eye. Afterward, the outer layer naturally regrows over a few days. PRK offers a safe alternative to LASIK, especially for those with thinner corneas, though it typically results in longer recovery and slight discomfort during healing.
