Priory

A priory is a type of monastery or religious community led by a prior or prioress, typically associated with the Benedictine or Augustinian orders. It functions as a residence for monks or nuns who live according to specific spiritual rules, dedicating their lives to prayer, work, and community service. Priories often serve as centers of worship, education, and hospitality within their communities. Unlike larger monasteries governed by an abbot or abbess, a priory may be smaller and sometimes subordinate to a larger abbey, but it still plays a vital role in the religious and social life of the region.
