Printmaking techniques

Printmaking techniques involve creating images or designs on a surface that can be transferred onto paper or other materials. Artists carve, carve, or etch into surfaces like wood, metal, or linoleum, then apply ink and press it onto paper. For example, in relief printing, the raised areas hold ink. Intaglio involves incising lines into a metal plate, which is then inked and wiped before pressing onto paper. Screen printing uses a mesh stencil to push ink through onto the surface. Each method offers unique textures, details, and effects, allowing artists to produce multiple copies of their work efficiently.
