
Prince Carl Johan (Carl Johan of Sweden)
Prince Carl Johan, later King Carl XIV Johan of Sweden and Norway, was born in 1782 in France. Originally a French officer, he was adopted by the Swedish Crown and became heir to the throne through his marriage to Princess Désirée of Sweden. Known for his military leadership and political influence, he reigned as king from 1818 until his death in 1844.
