Primary Care Trusts
Primary Care Trusts (PCTs) were organizations in England responsible for planning and managing local health services, mainly focusing on primary care such as general practitioners (GPs), dentists, and community services. They coordinated healthcare provision to meet the needs of their communities, funded local clinics, and oversaw public health initiatives. PCTs aimed to ensure accessible, quality care and to improve health outcomes at a community level. They operated from 2002 until their functions were transferred to other organizations like Clinical Commissioning Groups in 2013 as part of healthcare reforms.
