Primaries (US Presidential Primaries)
U.S. Presidential primaries are elections held by political parties to select their preferred candidate for the presidential race. During these contests, registered voters within each party choose among the candidates running for their party’s nomination. Results from these votes determine how many delegates each candidate earns, and these delegates then support specific candidates at the party’s national convention. Primaries help parties gauge which candidate has the most support among voters, ultimately leading to the selection of a single nominee to run in the general election. They are a key step in the democratic process of choosing who will become president.
