Priests (Kohanim)

Kohanim, or priests, are a hereditary class within Judaism stemming from the biblical figure Aaron, brother of Moses. They serve specific religious functions, primarily in performing sacred rituals such as blessings, offerings, and rituals in the synagogue and Temple. Their role symbolizes a spiritual connection to the community and tradition, with certain privileges and restrictions, like certain honors during worship and restrictions on whom they can marry. While their Temple duties are centered around ancient sacrificial rites, today they mainly lead prayer and conduct ceremonial functions, embodying a historical lineage dedicated to spiritual service.
