pressure-volume curve

A pressure-volume (P-V) curve illustrates the relationship between pressure and volume inside the lungs during breathing. It shows how lung pressure changes as they expand or contract. When you inhale, the lungs increase in volume, decreasing pressure inside and drawing in air. During exhalation, the lungs decrease in volume, increasing pressure and pushing air out. The curve's shape reflects lung elasticity and airway resistance. It's a useful tool in medicine to assess lung function, diagnose respiratory problems, and monitor treatment effectiveness by showing how easily the lungs fill and empty.
