presidential impeachment

Presidential impeachment is a process for removing a sitting president from office if they commit serious wrongdoing, such as violations of law or abuse of power. It starts in the House of Representatives, which reviews charges called articles of impeachment. If a majority votes to impeach, the process moves to the Senate for a trial. A two-thirds majority in the Senate is required to convict and remove the president. Impeachment does not automatically remove the president; it’s a formal accusation and conviction process to uphold accountability and the rule of law.
