prepreg manufacturing processes
Prepreg manufacturing involves impregnating reinforcement fibers, such as carbon or fiberglass, with a precise amount of uncured resin (like epoxy). The fibers are spread into thin, continuous sheets and coated uniformly with resin, then partially cured to create a flexible, tacky material called prepreg. These sheets are usually stored at low temperatures to prevent further curing. When needed, the prepreg is laid into molds and fully cured using heat and pressure, resulting in strong, lightweight composite components used in aerospace, automotive, and other high-performance applications.
