Premature Infant Pain Profile

The Premature Infant Pain Profile (PIPP) is a tool used by healthcare providers to assess pain in premature or newborn infants. It evaluates several signs, including facial expressions, heart rate, oxygen levels, and movement, to determine if the baby is experiencing pain. Each sign is scored, and the total helps caregivers decide if the baby needs comfort or pain relief. Since infants can't tell us when they hurt, the PIPP provides an objective way to monitor and manage their discomfort effectively.
