Pregnancy test
A pregnancy test detects the hormone human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) in urine or blood, which is produced after a fertilized egg attaches to the uterus lining. Urine tests are common and can be done at home; they typically involve placing a test strip or device in urine sample, with results shown as lines or symbols. Blood tests, done at a healthcare provider’s office, are more sensitive and can detect pregnancy earlier. A positive result indicates pregnancy, while a negative suggests it may not be. Timing and proper usage are important for accurate results.
