predicates

A predicate is a part of a sentence or statement that describes something or asserts a property about a subject. In logical or grammatical terms, it’s what tells us what is happening or what the subject is like. For example, in the sentence “The cat sleeps,” “sleeps” is the predicate—it describes what the cat (the subject) is doing. Predicates can include verbs, adjectives, or other descriptive words that provide information about the subject, helping to form complete and meaningful statements.
