Precolonial Africa
Precolonial Africa refers to the period before European colonization, when diverse societies, kingdoms, and empires thrived across the continent. These civilizations, such as Egypt, Mali, Songhai, Great Zimbabwe, and the Kingdom of Kush, built advanced political systems, trade networks, and rich cultures. They engaged in agriculture, craftsmanship, art, and learning, often centered around cities and trade routes. Africa was never a single entity but a mosaic of varied communities with unique languages and traditions. This era laid the foundations for modern African nations and showcased a history of innovation, resilience, and complex social structures.
