Pre-B cells
Pre-B cells are early-stage cells in the development of the immune system’s B cells, which produce antibodies to fight infections. They originate in the bone marrow from stem cells and undergo a series of maturation steps. During this process, pre-B cells start to rearrange their DNA to create unique antibody receptors, preparing them to recognize specific invaders. Once they successfully produce a functional receptor, they mature further, eventually becoming fully developed B cells capable of entering the bloodstream and lymphatic system to respond to pathogens. This development is essential for establishing a strong and adaptable immune defense.
