Pre-action systems
Pre-action systems are a type of fire protection setup that acts as a safeguard before water is released to extinguish a fire. Unlike traditional sprinklers that activate directly when heat is detected, pre-action systems require two triggers: a detection of a fire (like smoke or heat), and an additional confirmation, such as an alarm or manual sign-off. Once both are confirmed, water is released into the pipes, ready to discharge when a fire occurs. This process reduces accidental water damage in sensitive areas by ensuring water only flows when a real fire is present.
