Pravastatin

Pravastatin is a medication used to lower cholesterol levels in the blood, which helps reduce the risk of heart disease and strokes. It works by blocking an enzyme in the liver that produces cholesterol, leading to decreased bad cholesterol (LDL) and slightly increased good cholesterol (HDL). Taken once daily, pravastatin is generally well-tolerated, but some may experience side effects like muscle aches or liver enzyme changes. It’s most effective when combined with a healthy diet, regular exercise, and other lifestyle changes. Your doctor will determine if pravastatin is appropriate based on your individual cardiovascular risk factors.
