Prakrit language

Prakrit refers to a group of ancient Indian languages used in scriptures, literature, and everyday communication from around 500 BCE to 1000 CE. Originating from Sanskrit, Prakrit languages are more colloquial and accessible, serving as the spoken dialects of the time, unlike the classical Sanskrit which was more formal and literary. These languages played a vital role in the development of later Indian languages and were used in Jain and Buddhist texts, as well as in popular literature. Today, Prakrit languages are studied for their historical and linguistic significance, showcasing the linguistic diversity of ancient India.
